Women’s Health
Your Health, Your Body
Many women feel misunderstood or not fully heard when it comes to their health. Symptoms can feel dismissed, explained away, or left untreated for too long. This should not happen. Accessing the right support at the right time matters for both day-to-day wellbeing and long-term health.
In response, Luton has taken clear action. The Luton Women’s Health Network has been established to bring together the NHS, local services, and community organisations to improve how women access care and support. The network recognises that women’s health has often been overlooked and is committed to making sure women receive the right help, in the right place, at the right time.
How Medics PCN Can Support You
Medics PCN does not offer a single women’s health clinic, but we do offer something just as important: access to the right clinician at the right time. Our team includes GPs, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, health and wellbeing coaches, and social prescribers, all trained to listen carefully and understand individual needs.
Support is not limited to physical health alone. Alongside care for minor illness, injuries, and musculoskeletal concerns, we also offer health and wellbeing coaching and social prescribing to support mental health, lifestyle changes, and wider wellbeing.
We also actively promote and support cancer screening programmes, helping women access screening at the appropriate time and understand why early detection matters.
Our approach focuses on listening first, joining up care, and supporting women to feel confident, informed, and supported throughout their healthcare journey.
Mental Health
Mental health should never be ignored or put off. When concerns go unaddressed, they can start to affect sleep, relationships, work, physical health, and overall quality of life. Reaching out early can make a real difference.
To support this, Medics PCN has created a directory of local mental health services to help you find the right support at the right time.
The directory includes NHS, community, and voluntary services, offering a range of options depending on your needs and preferences. You do not have to manage things on your own.

Menopause and perimenopause are a normal part of life and can affect anyone who has periods. Symptoms can vary and may include changes to mood, sleep, concentration, or periods, as well as physical symptoms such as hot flushes. These changes can feel unsettling, but support is available.
Talking to a healthcare professional can help you understand what is happening and explore ways to manage symptoms and feel more like yourself again.

Menopause, Nutrition and Weight
We have included a helpful guide from the British Menopause Society that explains how menopause and perimenopause can affect weight, body shape, energy levels, and overall health.
This resource below is useful if you want to:
- Understand why weight gain can happen during menopause
- Learn how nutrition and movement support bone, heart, and muscle health
- Get clear, evidence-based advice and avoid confusing diet trends
- Make small, realistic changes that support long-term wellbeing
The guide focuses on balanced eating, gentle lifestyle changes, and looking after your health without restrictive diets or pressure. It is designed to support informed conversations with healthcare professionals and help you feel more confident about your choices.
This resource is produced by the British Menopause Society and is shared for educational purposes. Find out more about the British Menopause Society and their work in post-reproductive health.
