Healthy Choices
Small changes, when made regularly, can make a big difference to your health. That’s why the NHS has created a range of free, trusted digital tools to support healthier choices. To begin with, the Healthy Choices Quiz is a simple and helpful place to start.
Start with the Healthy Choices Quiz
Not sure where to begin with your health? You’re not alone, and that’s completely normal.
To help you get started, the NHS Healthy Choices Quiz asks a few simple questions and shows you which areas of your health need a little more attention. For example, it can help you focus on moving more, managing weight, cutting down on alcohol, stopping smoking, or looking after your mental wellbeing.
The quiz:
- Takes only a few minutes
- Is suitable for adults aged 18+
- Is especially helpful for people aged 40–60
- Gives personalised suggestions based on your answers
- Links you directly to trusted NHS apps and support

This is a simple first step — no judgement, no pressure, just clear direction.

Why This Matters
Preventable health conditions place increasing pressure on individuals, families, and the NHS. Because of this, many adults manage more than one health risk at the same time, such as low physical activity, excess weight, smoking, high alcohol intake, or ongoing stress. Over time, these risks build up and start to affect everyday health and wellbeing.
The NHS focus has shifted from reacting to illness to preventing it earlier. Digital tools are a key part of that shift. They allow people to:
- Access support at a time that suits them
- Build healthier habits gradually
- Take ownership of their wellbeing
Used properly, these tools work, especially when combined with local support from your GP practice and PCN services.
